* Couva is an industrial area, 40 kilometers south from port of spain, where metro hotel was my head quarter during my whole stay in trinidad. Port of spain, the capital of trinidad, is the carnival hot spot where I took my carnival photos. During carnival days I lived in a private house with garden in arima, while the owner was visiting his son in california. Arima is a town near port of spain, where I was able to reach port of spain within 30 minutes by public transport (maxi taxi) at each time, day or night.

Trinidad ist vor allem eines: es ist laut, so richtig laut.
In/aus jedem shop, jedem pub, jedem fahrzeug, einschliesslich maxi taxi, flutet in ohrenbetäubender lautstärke soca,calypso oder reggae. Ununterbrochen.
Auf der strasse gibt das dann eine wilde mixtur.
People seem to like it. But I am wondering how all these taxi drivers, waiters and shop keepers can survive their days without going deaf or crazy.
